Iris Weaver

I am an herbalist, teacher, and inspirational speaker.
I speak and teach from my experience of growing up as a creative outsider, a trauma survivor, student, teacher, and plant lover.
My commitment is to bring knowledge and access to healing for the heart and soul.
As I am self-taught about plants and herbalism, I understand the student’s view-point, and I teach from that perspective.

My passion for the plants and how we work with them informs all aspects of my workshops, talks, and classes.
My classroom and workshop materials and handouts reflect a learner’s need for both basic and advanced information.
My path in life is to learn through experience, and that is reflected in my journey of healing from trauma and abuse.

Being born into abuse that went on into adulthood was traumatic. But I always knew I could and would heal and I have followed my healing path with utter determination.

My inspirational talks are based on my experience of my own healing and working with other people. I want my audiences, students, and others who hear me to know that not only is healing and recovery from trauma, abuse, and mental health issues possible, but that definitely…healing happens!

From very early in life, when I needed safety and hope, I found plants as my allies. I relied on them for help, even just to give me a spark of joy in the midst of dark days.
They have always been my friends, my companions. Just as anyone wants to know more about their friends, I wanted to learn more about the plants.
I began reading books and looking at all the plants growing around me. I wanted to know their names and what they were used for - food, medicine, making colors. I experimented and researched, attended workshops, and corresponded with several herbalists.
What wonderful discoveries I made! I found many ways of working with plants and herbs, and they became an integral part of my healing from abuse, as well as my passion, avocation, and, now, my vocation.

I find great joy in sharing what I have learned. Learning is a life-long process, one that never ends.

Please join me in learning, healing, and growing.
